Mrs. Melissa Denning

I have been married for 25 years to my husband, Tim. I have 2 sons, Mitch and Andy. Mitch just graduated from MTSU with a degree in Digital Media. He will be using his degree while working for th American Center for Law and Justice. Andy just graduated from Gallatin High School this May and will continue his education and baseball career at Austin Peay. I am a devoted member of Siloam Missionary Baptist Church in Westmoreland. My life is centered around my church, my family, and my career. When time allows, I also LOVE to travel.

I graduated with Honors and in the top 10% of my class from Gallatin High School in 1988. I went to Western Kentucky University and graduated with honors in 1992 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Later, I completed my Master’s in 1996, also in Elementary Education. I am certified to teach grades Pre-K through 3rd grade.

Teaching Career

I began teaching in the fall of 1992 at Westside Elementary. I have taught 3rd grade for 1 year, Kindergarten for 4 years, and 2nd grade for 20 years. As each year passes, I judge myself harder than any evaluator. I look for weaknesses in my teaching patterns and strive to make them better. I work hard to have a good relationship with my students and parents. I feel that it takes fairness, dedication, and compassion to have a successful classroom.
